PTSD POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER PSYCHOLOGICAL TRAUMA SEXUAL MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABUSE IN COLCHESTER AND IPSWICH

Hypnotherapy for PTSD and Psychological Trauma Hypnosis for Abuse:

I was trained at the Institute of Clinical Hypnosis in PTSD and Psychological Trauma by an ex soldier who treated his own Post Traumatic Stress Disorder successfully using these methods that I employ and I also use tools and strategies that I have learned work to alleviate the effects of PTSD. My trainer saw action in Bosnia, Iraq and Northern Ireland.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder manifests itself in many ways from terrible experiences in combat, to the Police officer or Health Professional who has seen too much, to those traumatised by a terrible accident or trauma or sexual or physical abuse.

I am ex Harley street and have seen many people for various traumas. Counselling or CBT may have helped you to understand – this is about giving your strategies to move on and put the past behind you.

I offer compassionate and caring help to get you past this and to deal with all the insomnia, nightmares, anger, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, reliance on drugs and alcohol or food as tranquillisers, stress, suicidal feelings etc.

I was trained in PTSD and Psychological Trauma and also use Rewind Therapy, Inner Child Therapy, Hypnoanalysis, NLP, Counselling, CBT  – and whatever we feel is appropriate to you.

I work with you not at you and contrary to myth – hypnosis is not about me controlling or brainwashing you it is about teaching you skills to get control and ownership of your life – so you feel you can take responsibility for your life.

I use tried and trusted methods and I have many hours of clinical experience.

“You told me when I came to see you for something else that I had symptoms of PTSD and I laughed at you. The culture of my profession was to “go home get drunk” or to offer not very effective referrals. When I eventually crashed and burned you helped with compassion and clarity – and on occasions tough love – to move forward. Thank you.”

Anxiety Disorders:

Generalized Anxiety Disorder

Generalised Anxiety Order is when one suffers from excessive, irrational fears about daily life issues: money, family, health, safety, etc. People who suffer from GAD experience worry that is often unrealistic or out of proportion for the situation. [2]. Eventually the person cannot live a normal life because their fear is getting in the way of relationships, goals, activities, career and other daily activities.

Panic Disorder / Anogrophobia

Panic Disorder / Anogrophobia is an anxiety disorder in which there is a sudden rush of fear. The individual suffers from physical and cognitive symptoms typically associated with the body’s ‘flight or fight’ response. Panic attacks occur without logical reason or can be triggered by situations, locations, thoughts, or the actual dread itself of having a panic attack. People who suffer from panic disorders often develop anogrophobia. Anogrophobia is the fear of being in certain places or situations in which help, comfort, or escape may be difficult to achieve upon the onset of a panic attack. [1].

Social Anxiety Disorder or Social Phobia

Social Anxiety Disorder is similar to the symptoms of anogrophobia where there is a fear of being in a social situation. Specific phobias are irrational fears and avoidance of specific objects, places, or situations.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder / OCD

OCD is a disorder in which recurrent, unwanted thoughts (obsessions) and/or repetitive behaviors (compulsions) need to be preformed or carried out in order to reduce anxiety. Not performing the various task or ‘ritual’ will increase anxiety. [1].

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder/ PTSD

PTSD is an anxiety disorder often caused by exposure to a traumatic experience that caused physical or emotional harm. PTSD triggers symptoms of fear, dread, persistent unpleasant thoughts or memories, detachment, physical numbness, or sleep problems. [1].

Sexual Mental and Physical Abuse – Psychological Trauma:

Treatment for Domestic Mental and Physical Abuse

Domestic Mental and Physical Abuse is a serious mental or physical or sexual assault on a person which can lead to severe Stress Anxiety / Panic and Depression and sometimes PTSD leading to states of heightened anxiety.

Understanding Anxiety:

Anxiety can be defined as a relatively permanent state of worry and nervousness. It is unpleasant feelings of apprehension, uneasiness, or dread causing various physical, emotional, or cognitive symptoms. Anxiety interferes with daily activity making it difficult to function normally and comfortably in surroundings. Approximately 40 million adults suffer from an anxiety disorder. Anxiety disorders are the most common mental disorders in America. Typically, individuals with one disorder will also have a supplementary disorder. [1].

On Medical NewsToday.com, a website dedicated to informing and educating the public on current medical news and issues, states: “Anxiety disorders affect how people feel and behave and can manifest real physical symptoms ranging from mild to severe.”  They can be debilitating and if left untreated, can lead to serious health and life complications.

There are many different types of anxiety disorders and effect each person differently. The most common disorders are: General Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Panic Disorder, social anxiety or social phobias, specific phobias, Obsessive Compulsive (OCD) and Post-traumatic Stress Disorder.

The 60 year old client, who had actually come to see me for weight loss, movingly thanked me for the Hypnoanalysis  and NLP which I defined as being necessary as part of her treatment as she was overeating as a kind of tranquilliser (people often use drinking alcohol, smoking and drugs in a similar way.):

“For the first time in my Life since I was sexually and physically abused by my Father (between 9 – 18) I have woken up not thinking about it – I have finally let it go..”

It is great responsibility and many Male and Female clients have told me in absolute confidence their deepest and darkest nightmares – I feel privileged to help and have helped many move on and finally put the torment and the tormentors behind them.
